Exercise

Wow.  We woke up to a winter wonderland here this morning.  So much so that Joel took the camera to work, otherwise I would have loved to share a picture with you.  Maybe I'll add one when he gets home.

Can you believe that we are on day 9 already?  That means Christmas is only a little over 2 weeks away.  How exciting.  Thanks for all the support for this series so far, I hope you are enjoying it.

The 25 days of Christmas: How to keep in touch with your best self over the holiday season
Day #9-

 EXERCISE REGULARLY

No one needs to tell you to do it, we all know we should be.  In fact telling you to do it probably makes you want to do it less, is that true?

Regular exercise throughout the holiday season can be so beneficial.  First and foremost it will help keep holiday eating under control.  I heard it somewhere once that people who exercise regularly make better decisions when it comes to health in general.   But let's stop thinking about the physical health benefits of weight loss and increasing muscle mass.

Did you know? (source)
  • Exercise boots your immune system.
  • Exercise is excellent stress relief.
  • Exercise helps you sleep better.
  • Exercise boosts self esteem.
  • Exercise releases endorphins therefore improving your mood.
Who couldn't use a little extra of those things during this busy time, and the list goes on...

Just remember, there are no excuses.  Well, actually there are, I guess that's what I'm getting at.  There are so many excuses.  There will never be a perfect time to make exercise a part of your lifestyle.  Commit to it and squeeze it in where you can.  Don't forget, the internet is a perfect resource- make you tube your best friend.  Joel and I did the original buns of steel video (found on you tube) in our living room the other night.  It was hilarious.

Oh and for those of you who this will benefit.  This was an excellent and inspiring article about exercise outside during the winter.  It's specifically about running, but it would apply to anything, so don't let the running focus deter you.
